Sonora Brush Clearing is a local crew based in Sonora, CA. We clear brush, dry grass and trees, cut back the 100 feet of defensible space around homes, and clear lots and fire breaks across Tuolumne County and into Calaveras County, for homeowners, cabin and rental owners and ranches. The owner is Levi Cones.
Levi Cones and how the crew started
Levi Cones started his first yard business in 2024, during his junior year of high school. He still runs the field side himself: he runs the crews and walks most estimates.
At first he hired his friends from school and taught them the work, along with customer service and job skills. Since 2025 the business has run professional crews, with far more gear and experience than those first jobs, and today it sends out three crews a day. They clear brush, grass and fire fuel from Sonora up the Highway 108 corridor and over into Calaveras County.

Plastic line and water on site
Our brush cutters run plastic cutting line, not metal blades, so nothing throws sparks off a rock, and we carry pressurized water on every job.
One written price before we start
Most jobs get one price for the whole job, set after we walk it, with hauling and dump fees in it. Some projects are done at a flat day rate. The estimate is free either way.
Before and after photos
We text you before and after photos when the job is done, for your own records, your insurer or the inspector.
Owners who live away
If you live out of the area, we walk the property with you on the phone, and the before and after photos show you the finished job. Whole jobs get done without the owner ever on site.
What we clear: brush clearing on overgrown lots, defensible space clearing for an inspection or an insurance letter, and lot and land clearing on vacant parcels and acreage, in every town we serve in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties. Each job is cleared to the defensible space rules for Sonora and Tuolumne County that apply at your address.
We cut with brush cutters, string trimmers and chainsaws, move brush and logs with our Bobcat, haul in wood-sided trailers and rent a chipper when a job needs one. We also grind stumps, dig and grade. For a big tree that needs a climber, we recommend a licensed tree service. And we do not spray: we cut weeds and brush, never spray them.
